Young Carers Support Team
A Young Carer is a person under the age of 18 who provides care and support to a family member or friend who has a physical or mental illness, disability, or struggles with addiction. This care can involve tasks such as helping with personal hygiene, administering medication, managing finances, or providing emotional support.
Young Carers often take on significant responsibilities, which can impact upon their college work, social life and mental health. Despite their important role, Young Carers are not always recognised, supported or celebrated. We have positive professional relationships with organisations and services dedicated to helping and supporting Young Carers, ensuring they have access to resources, respite, and opportunities for their own well-being.
If you are a Young Carer, please let our Student Experience and Wellbeing Welfare Officers know.
They will be able to ensure that you can access the support and guidance you need, as and when you need it.
